Much like yacht ownership, the investment of owning a fine car goes far beyond the sticker price. Often parked for months at a time, these automobiles may need to be serviced even in between driving sessions. Maintenance is expensive, and required frequently to keep them in showroom condition. So, even those who can afford a supercar find it hard to justify the total investment required to keep one in the garage.
Vancouver’s Kulwant Sandher understands this reality. Like many automotive connoisseurs, Kulwant loves the driving experience but understands just how challenging it is to justify the investment for a single supercar. And, if you want to drive more than one of these exhilarating vehicles, that investment can easily double or triple.
He thought it would make sense to create a club that worked much like a time share, where people could share in the use of an entire stable of these beautiful automobiles. The result is Scuderia, a fine car club he is in the process of launching in the greater Vancouver area. Scuderia is Italian for “Stable,” reflecting the idea of a stable full of horsepower. The club would act as a stable full of the world’s best cars, available to club members for such things as meeting a peer at the airport or attending a special event. Kulwant turned to George Pytlik for help with the brand identity and website design.
The logo was designed to look like the chrome emblem you might see on a luxury car, with a hand-crafted look to reflect the hand-built nature of these cars. This logo is reproduced in shiny silver chrome on the club stationery.
Website
A very simple website was launched to seek out interest and gather the initial charter memberships. The site will expand once the club gets underway. The website uses a simple, fast-paced Flash animation. Yet Flash doesn’t get in the way of the person wanting information. Unlike many Flash sites, the Flash portion is supplemental. You don’t need it to view the information. This allows fast, unhindered access for those who can’t be bothered to watch the animation.
A checkered-flag type grid is used for the graphical panel, allowing multiple images to be applied in interesting patterns. This grid continues to the right side for those with larger monitor sizes. Research found that many of those in the target market use laptops, so their screen sizes are often limited. For this reason, the site was optimized to a slightly narrower screen size and designed for maximum loading speed. View the website for yourself, at www.gtscuderia.com
