Case Study: Ice Breaker Contest

Gathering submissions

The initial E-mail asked members to submit their ice breaker using a simple submission form on the website. When an entry was made, the member received a confirmation message thanking them, and the League received a notification message. All entries were collected into a database.

A reminder message was sent two weeks later.

Facebook was also used to involve fans by giving them a day’s advance notice for submissions and voting.

When the contest ended, hundreds of entries had been received. League staff viewed them and rated each one with a numerical value from 1 to 10 to create a short list for presentation to the membership. The 10 in each category receiving the highest combined rating from staff were included in the public vote.
